Multibanco

Connect your Multibanco account to Simpler

Multibanco is a Portuguese bank reference payment method. The shopper completes checkout and receives a bank entity code, reference number, and amount, which they then use to pay at an ATM or via online banking. Simpler integrates with Multibanco via MultiSafepay (MSP).

Because payment confirmation happens outside the checkout flow and is received asynchronously, webhooks play a critical role in this integration.

Webhooks required for custom integrations

If you are using a custom plugin or platform interface, you must implement the Simpler Webhook Receiver endpoint. Simpler uses it to notify your system when a Multibanco payment is confirmed. Without it, your orders will not be marked as paid.

Managed integrations (WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop) handle this automatically and Multibanco can be enabled only if you have a supported version of simpler plugin.

Onboarding Process

Already using Bizum or another MultiSafepay-backed payment method?

Bizum, Multibanco, and MB WAY are all provided through MultiSafepay. If you have already completed MSP onboarding (e.g. for Bizum), you do not need to repeat the process — enable Multibanco on your existing account through the Payment Method tab in the Simpler Merchant Dashboard.

  1. Contact Simpler: Send an email to our Integrations Support team to request Multibanco activation.

  2. Provide a completed UBO (Ultimate Beneficial Owner) form: Download, complete, and sign the appropriate form from the list below, then send it securely to our Integrations Support team along with your request.

  3. Simpler configures your MultiSafepay account: Our team will activate Multibanco on your MultiSafepay merchant account and handle all required KYC and documentation uploads.

  4. Activation Confirmation: Once your account is fully configured and Multibanco is active, we will finalize the integration on your Simpler merchant dashboard and notify you when payments can be accepted.
